Love Yourself

Everything in this world starts with “I”. Self-love is to accept, approve, acknowledge, appreciate, embrace and love yourself unconditionally for ALL that you truly are. Life’s biggest struggle is to know and accept ourselves for all the weak, bad, ugly, inferior, and faulty imperfections that we think we may have.

Self-love is a priority in any relationship, especially the relationship with oneself. By you loving yourself first, you learn how to love others. You grow confidence of the mind + heart to love & appreciate the people around you.

By loving yourself, you are leading by example the kind of love, affection, happiness, companionship, relationship, & results you demand and want in your life. Living life, feeling and knowing you are loved & lovable is something that no one can give you or take away from you. It is solely defined by you, and only you.

It takes practice to speak up and be authentic to yourself, of your feelings ,and your needs; to appreciate your decisions and knowing that your word matters more than anyone else’s. Always keep your word to yourself, whether it be to take a yoga class, read a book, taking a vacation, anything small or big, honor your word as you would for your best friends / partner, don’t ever let yourself down because you matter.

Self-love is a continuous learning journey, it’s where boundaries are created and standards are set on how you deserve to and get to be treated by others. Self- love is often mistaken as selfishness & overlooked, but when you learn to appreciate & value yourself, you will weed out anyone who doesn’t truly value you. Respect yourself enough to walk away from anyone or anything that no longer serves you, grows you, or makes you happy.

Imagine a world where everyone loves themselves more, what type of energy will be transmuted out to others, and the contribution we would give to bring people together with peace & love. As we love ourselves more, we are able to be more open and be compassionate towards one another. Ultimately breaking through the limits of who we are “supposed to be “, we will be able to contribute to ourselves and the world we all live in. Be mindful of the internal conversations, interpretations, feelings, behaviors, and patterns. Get to know yourself whole heartedly, all your strengths and weaknesses and learn to love both.

Be willing to let go the thought of who you should BE in order to be who you really are. We all deserve more & the best possible for anyone.

LIFE is all about balance…Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.

“It’s all about quality of life and finding a happy balance between work and friends and family.”  Philip Green

Balance of your heart and head. Balance of good and bad. Balance of right and wrong. Achieving a yin-yang balance of dualism keeps you happy, healthy, fulfilled, confident, love, worthy, and free.

Yin and Yang are two contrary principles that are complementary, interdependent, interconnected forces forming a dynamic system in which the whole is greater than the assembled parts. Yin and Yang lives to work alongside one another to keep each other alive.

Yin is the female, cold, dark, passive power, heaven, sunshine, hard, good, white, large, sadness, odd, negative, sadness

Yang represents masculinity, light, and warmth, Earth, rain, soft, evil, black, small, even (numbers), positive, joy

Classic Turtleneck Season Returns

Classic Turtleneck Season Returns

Turtlenecks are my all time favorite go to style during the cold seasons. My first memory of turtlenecks was an itchy one, a mandatory dress code in the winter per grandmas’ way. Grandma always forced us to wear them, to keep the neck warm preventing the cold. Grandma rocked her different turtlenecks all year long coining granny chic. I adore turtlenecks for their boldness & elegance with a touch of granny chic. I have been gravitating more towards comfortable fashion in my daily styles.

The famous 70s’ iconic American fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick said,” Turtlenecks are the most comfortable garment you can wear. They move with the body, and they’re flattering too, because they accentuate the face and elongate the figure.” I agree that turtlenecks are cozy fitting and keeps the body warm by not requiring to drag a scarf around. The high neck detail veils the bare skin accenting the face which gives the impression of a elongated physique. High necks were the most popular statement made on the fall/winter runway collections conveyed strikingly distinctively. Need we say more?! hehe. (there’s a reason why Steve Jobs always wore them lol)

TOBIs’ unique yet comfy LBD, body-hugging and tightly holding everything right in its’ place. The high turtleneck can be styled in different lengths, ribbed knit, cut out elbows, and designed to bear the legs.

Perfect dress for when its’ too cold out, but the hoe inside of you needs to show some skin… so you sacrifice the elbows kind of dress haha jk

High Bun hair tied and placed on the crown of the head to accentuate the face. Love how high buns draw attention to the face and gives a mini face-lift. High buns give off a very sleek & classy chic look that can be pulled off with any outfit.

Colorfully Black (Look 2)

“Women who wear BLACK live colorful lives.” – Neiman Marcus

I have to admit 80% of my wardrobe is black. I love & live in black clothing all year long. This look is for my black clothing loving ladies who believes there can never be too much black.

Look 2 is the best duo to be warm & sexy simultaneously. A cozy warm turtleneck tunic, bearing minimal legs covered slightly with sexy thigh highs boots. Comfort + SwagtheHALAway classic

H&M Turtleneck Sweater long enough to wear as a tunic. Love 2-for tops especially when it can be worn as a top & tunic. They can be styled endlessly in both ways. The top keeps you warm to bear some legs.

Tucked-in hair (Hair Tuck) is a quick & fun classic hairstyle that complements high neck tops and scarves, while keeping you extra warm. This hairstyle takes only a few seconds and costs nothing. To achieve this look, I wear my high necks and make sure my hair is spread around my whole head not just concentrated in one area. Pull out a few strands of hair from different areas of my head for a relaxed look. Voila!  This trick can be used when you want to give the illusion of a short bob look to change it up.

theHALAway statement piece:

THIGH HIGHS!! These definitely need a separate post on their own soon (stay tuned). Thigh highs are perfect for the fall/winter making us look & feel sexy while keeping our legs warm.

theHALAway tip:

MAC Satin Lipstick in REBEL (Midtonal Cream Plum) when I’m feeling my inner goth twin come out. Plum + Dark Red hues makes me feel confident & sexy in a dominatrix kid of way (hehe).  GIRLPOWER!!
